10 Fun Facts About “Still Awake”.

The process we took in making our last EP called “Still Awake” was a little different to how many other bands these days and would do it so we thought we’d share with you a little bit about how it happened with some interesting facts.

1. It was recorded at The Metrodome, a venue in Gosford.

2. Drums, bass, keyboard and rhythm guitar were all recorded live on stage without a metronome or click track.

3. There was no tuning used on any of the vocals on any of the tracks.

4. The song “Skeletons” was meant to be on our first EP “Just Like Pirates” but we weren’t happy with it, so it was re-recorded and released it on “Still Awake”. (There is also an acoustic version available for free download at www.facebook.com/whentheworld).

5. The long into for the first track, “7 Minute Freakshow” was added as a last minute decision

6. There was no pre-production done on the last song “Our Days Are Numbered But Who’s Counting”.

7. The band members were present for all of the post-production.

8. We worked hard alongside triple ARIA award winning producer and engineer, David Nicholas, who has worked with countless famous artisits including INXS, Midnight Oil, Diesel, Elton John, Sting and many more.

9. In it’s first 3 days of being released, “Still Awake” reached #60 on the Pop Charts on iTunes, beating Katy Perry’s also recently released “Teenage Dream” among many other superstars.

5. Our Days Are Numbered, But Who’s Counting

On the road again, with my best friends

Screaming up and down the highway

Leave it all behind, crossing borderlines

So close but so far away

Come daybreak, still awake

The sun is shining in our eyes, these new skylines

Say we’re here for a good time, not a long time

And we’ll be losing our minds

Let’s tear up this town with both feet off the ground

Our heads in the clouds and the lights all around, singin’

We won’t remember these days forever

Heads spinning, hearts racing more with every step we’re taking.

Turn it up and drink it down

This is our last night in this town

Stamp our wrists, forget all this

We’re losing our night to this sound

I’m coming clean on return to the crime scene

I could’ve left but you never would’ve found me

Sing a long to the strangers on the main street, late at night

We’re here for a good time, not a long time

And we’ll be losing our minds

The clock’s ticking faster, faster

On this different kind of freakshow.

Can you hear me? (WHOA)

Are you with me? (WHOA)

Are you out there? (WHOA)

4. So Much Time, So Little Heart

Give yourself some time, girl

Stay with me tonight, girl

Drop it all and lose yourself before you find

All the things you never do

Are keeping me from loving you

Take another chance before we change our minds

I could be your one night stand

I could take you by the hand

If you fall I hope you’ll land right next to me

We’ve been waiting so long

To sleep now would be so wrong

Right here, right now, we know it’s meant to be

So what are we waiting for?

Well you can turn off the lights

Please don’t kiss me goodnight

Leave that conscience on the table

And your clothes on the floor

I wanna be your boy next door

I’m just the boy at the end of your street

But I’m here to sweep you off your feet

Let me whisper something sweet, I’ll take control

We can make this work now

Come on and show me how

You move, you groove, so smooth, let’s rock n’ roll

Well what are we waiting for?

We can keep this confidential

We’ve got the place to ourselves tonight

Let me be your ‘nothing special’

There’s no need to act so shy

3. Skeletons

She has a winning smile, her eyes are in denial.
She’s not what she seems.
She has a pretty face it took me to a new place.
A place I wanted to be.
And then she messed up and threw it away.
I never knew it would end this way.
And then she fessed up and told me the way.
She used to, hear them say.

She keeps a heart shaped box under her bed.
Next to the bones and secrets and everything I said.

She’s out of sight but in my mind, running back and forth.
She’s haunting every one of my dreams.
I’m holding tight so I can find all the pieces left behind

The skeletons are hard to see

She has the smile of a winner the eyes of a sinner.
If I ever knew
It wasn’t meant to be and what she said to me
Just wasn’t true.
I would’ve caught that train to miss-you town.
The 8:13 back home.
I would’ve torn the letters off my wall

To tell them I’m alone.

When she was feeling something I was numb.
Why do all the pretty ones have to be so dumb?

Was she just sick of the life.

(Was she just sick of her life)
Was she just sick of the life

Of teenage lovers.

The skeletons were dancing in her closet.
There was nothing I could say to make them go away.

2. Running in Circles

I think I’m catching onto you girl
Your beauty’s hidden in your mind

I could run away with you girl

If I could just see what’s inside

Till then I’ll just cross my fingers
And hope we can escape just for a moment

I don’t believe in love at first sight

But I believe in me and you tonight

Let’s set each other free

I’m always chasing you

You’ll always chase me too
Forever we’ll run in circles

till one of us hits the ground

So why don’t we climb out your window

And step out on the ledge so we can let go

I know it isn’t the time for those three words
But girl I’m addicted to you

You know there isn’t a thing that I wouldn’t do
(Wouldn’t do)

You’re my chaser,
It’s like you’re out to get me and it’s driving me crazy

I don’t believe in love at first sight

But I believe in me and you tonight

Let’s set each other free

You only kissed me once in daylight
I never thought I’d have such stage fright
But it’s just what you do to me

It’s just what you do to me.
